October 2014 Update By Carl Carlucci

Back to Previous
It has been another amazing month at Fryerning as the members took full advantage of an unseasonably mild October by catching an incredible number of big fish.

Time after time we see new members get amongst the biggies from the off and October has certainly been the month of the newbie!

Aaron West has caught consistently since recently joining the main lake and has been at it again taking 3 fish during a quick weekend overnighter. Fishing the Dam Double, Aaron landed mirrors of 29 and 31lb along with a cracking 30lb common all in a hectic 4 hour spell. Great angling Aaron, keep ‘em coming!

Geoff Keen didn’t waste any time after joining up smashing his PB on his first trip to the lake.  Geoff fished from the popular Lodge swim but placed his baits in generally ignored areas and was rewarded with the Nunn at 44.4lb, a great result for Geoff and hopefully the first of many to come. Well done Geoff!

Liam Burkin was on only his third trip to the fishery when in just 12 hours he smashed his PB THREE TIMES! Liam fished from the left hand point and baited lightly at range to catch his fish.

Liam’s incredible haul, which included a double take, consisted of the stunning Stripe at 37lb, Four Scale at 41lb and was topped off with the huge Mommon common at 46.03lb. A blinding session in anybody’s book!

To prove it was no fluke Liam has since returned and fishing again from the left hand point smashed his PB for the fourth time in a month! This time it was the awesome Netted Fish that fell to Liam’s rods at a massive 47.04lb.

Well done Liam on a superb piece of angling.

Another new member, Paul Palmer, had been catching well from the Car Park Lake along with his young sons Lucas and Joshua, the newly formed “Team palmer” taking numerous twenties. Dad Paul’s primary objective had always been to get amongst the biggies on the Main Lake though and he recently fulfilled his goal in some style.

Fishing in the Double Dam Paul began by taking a cracking 36lb common quickly followed by the impressive Round Tail at 40lb, a new PB common for Paul.

The second day of Paul’s trip also happened to be his birthday and he celebrated his special day by landing the Nunn at a cracking 45.02lb.

Paul was back a couple of weeks later this time catching the Gurm at a new lake record of 53.06lb.

Fabulous stuff, congratulations Paul!

All round nice guy and long time Fryerning member Joe Morgan topped this month’s fishing off with a truly remarkable piece of fishing.

Joe who had said he thought it looked right for a chunk or two was good to his word when he landed 2 forties after just 20 minutes fishing!

Joe’s incredible catch included Charlie at 43.08lb and the Mommon at 46.04lb both fish taken on single hookbaits.

A true red letter day for Joe, and a feat of angling that left the management and all of the members in a state of shock!

Well done Joe!

Can’t wait to see if any of the members can beat Joe’s catch next month!
