Designed for high achievers, the Main Lake affords countless opportunities to improve members' carp angling mastery and to demonstrate excellence in their approach and techniques.  

The Main Lake is 18 acres of scientifically-managed water, with depths ranging from three to 18 feet, a large island, and lush margin growth.

The swims are large enough for two anglers, with an occasional guest welcome at our discretion. If you intend to bring a guest, please let us know in advance.

The documented stock of mid- and upper 30s and 40s is increasing all the time, with some fish growing in excess of five pounds. We currently have 10 fish at 40, with another six due at 40 in 2012. Quality is of the highest as we have our own breeding programme, recognised by CEFAS, utilising the latest aquaculture technologies (see Commercial Activities page for details).

Target Fish 2012

We have a busy year in prospect for XL Carp at Fryerning Fisheries, with stock-taking now done. This is an important part of our operation as it enables us – with the help of Syndicate members – to monitor all-important weights and condition.

At 40+lb target-named Carp we have 10 fish. These are The Mommon (Common @ 42.8); Luks (Common @ 42); The Boss (Mirror 40lb 8oz);  The Chunk (Mirror @ 40.4); Charlie (Mirror @ 41.2); New 40 Sparkles (Mirror @ 40.4 ); The Rudder (Mirror @ 40lb 8oz), The Nun (Mirror @ 42.08), No Name (Mirror @ 44) and the Netted Fish ( Leather @ 40lb). 

TOP Upper 30s target-named Carp range we have 4 Scale (Mirror @ 39); Weedons Grass (Grass Carp @ 39).

Target-named upper 30s are The Wood Carving (Mirror); The Stripe (Mirror); Split Tail (Leather); The Dalmation (Koi); Round Tail (Common); Six Pack (Mirror). I estimate we have on site a further 85 Carp in excess of 30-35, along with more than 150 Carp over 20.

I think it would be a good idea to name more of the 30+ specimens in order to record and verify growth rate and condition more comprehensively. This scientific approach is in line with our professional principles and actively involves all our members in the ongoing improvement of the fishery.

FACILITIES

The anglers' lodge is situated next to the entrance to the fisheries. Here you will find free tea and coffee and be able to catch up with all the latest news. You will also find a fish finder and lifejackets, which MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN USING THE BOAT ALONG WITH STAFF

The entire site is protected by the latest infrared CCTV security system, ensuring you and your equipment are totally safe.

We have an arrangement with local Chinese and Indian restaurants that can make deliveries to the lake.

Should you wish to leave the site to eat, there are a number of excellent shops and public houses close by. Ingatestone, just a five-minute drive from the fishery, is a charming Essex town with a selection of great independent shops to cater for all your needs.
