3x 50s for Bertie

Back to Previous
Popular main lake member of over 18 years, Karl 'Bertie' Baxter has just gone down in folklore as being the first angler to land three different carp at 50lb+ from the Main Lake.

Bertie just cant put a foot wrong at the moment, he just keeps on catching those Fryerning Whackers.

His latest session saw him head to the lodge, a swim he allways fancies if the conditions suit and it certainly looked the part when he arrived for this trip, with a nice warm wind pushing down towards mothers end and plenty of carp showing.

Berties session started off with a fish he recently landed from the same swim, a usual rarely caught stunning Leney of 36lb known as Riddler.

The Riddler the first of an historic catch 36lb.

This was soon followed by a fish which is simply stunning, known as starburst a 37lb 2oz mirror.

They don't get much prettier than this Starburst 37lb 2oz

By pilling Mainlines finest Active 8 in, Bertie kept those fish on the munch and was rewarded with another Brace of fish, Berties Linear at 37lb 8oz and something rather special!

The man of the moment went on to land The Boss at an almighty 50lb 8oz, a fish which put Bertie into Fryernings Hall of fame with him being the first to land three seperate 50s.

The Boss 50lb 6oz, a historic moment made.

Karl had previously caught Gurm back in June 2015 at 54lb 8oz, and More recently had The Mommon at 50lb 6oz.

The excitement didn't end there, as on the last night he had four scale in fabulous condition at 38lb a perfect way to round off the session.

What a fish to round off a dream session 4 Scale 38lb

Congratulations Bertie top result, from a top fishery by a top bloke!
