It’s astonishing how quickly new members seem to get amongst the big fish at Fryerning and Dave Cope has certainly got his Main Lake campaign off to a flyer taking 5 fish in just 8 nights 2 of which came on his latest session.

Dave found a number of fish at close range and after a quick move went on to land the complexes biggest Koi The Dalmation at 37lb and then just hours later smashed his PB with the huge Nunn at 46lb 14oz.

From one of our newest members to one of our longest serving, Karl “Bert” Baxter has been fishing Fryerning for 17 years and was left speechless after landing the Gurm at a new fishery record of 54lb 8oz.

Bert arrived Sunday afternoon to find he had the lake to himself and having spotted fish at range cast a Nash Key pop up 115yds, just a couple of hours later and after an epic battle he landed his new PB.

Bert was obviously delighted; he’d previously caught the mirror years ago at just 27lb. Well done to both the lads on their fish.

We’re a sentimental bunch at Fryerning and love to see youngsters being introduced to our wonderful sport by their dads. So when Cameron and Finley Allen came fishing with their dad on Father’s day and both smashed their PBs it certainly bought a smile to our faces!

13 year old Finley got off the mark first taking a cracking Common of 25lb 4oz before Cameron took a Mirror of 22lb 4oz. Congratulations to the boys, great fishing and a wonderful day all round!

June was certainly the month of PBs for our members but it was Carp fishing star Adam Penning who rounded off the month in some style with 2 land mark captures.

Adam doesn’t get as much personal fishing time as people would believe and so it’s great to see him choosing to spend it at Fryerning.

It didn’t take Adam long to get off the mark on his recent trip, when having used a ladder to gain a better view of a group of fish he managed to entice them into taking floaters. A short while later and having seen the fish take his bait Adam was connected to a very hard fighting mirror. Following a epic struggle Adam slipped the net under his new surface caught PB of 39lb 4oz!

Conditions were tough during the session but with perseverance and application Adam managed to magic up another opportunity in the dying minutes of his trip, this time on a zig at very long range and in amongst some very heavy weed.

A protracted battle in a boat ensued before a stunning mirror rolled into the net. The fish is a very rare visitor to the bank and weighed in at a massive 37lb 2oz and is a new zig PB for Mr Penning

Well done to Adam on his momentous captures.

We were able to capture both fish on video and they will be included on our new movie “Fryerning From Above” which is presented by Adam. The film was made using a drone and has some cutting edge footage. Watch this space for details.

Have a great month’s fishing
