Big Fish Bonanza!

Back to Previous
History in the making as the Main Lake produces a new 50 and a run of big fish captures

It’s been an incredible few days on Fryerning’s Main Lake with 2 50s and a couple of the lakes most prized residents being landed.

Barry Byson set the ball rolling taking the complexes largest common the magnificent Mommon at a massive 47lb 7oz.

The stunning Common put up an amazing fight and is a new PB for an absolutely ecstatic Barry.

Ian Davis also smashed his UK PB when he landed the lady of the lake, the impressive Gurm at 52lb 14oz.

Just hours after Ian’s capture, Christy McKeon slipped the net under the beautiful Woodcarving. The big Mirror is one of the lakes most sought after fish and weighed in at an all-time high weight of 46lb, a new PB for lucky captor Christy.

The run of huge fish was topped off by a new landmark in the history of Fryerning Fisheries when long time member Mark Shildrake banked the Boss at 50lb 2oz, a second fifty for both the captor and fishery!

This monstrous fish just keeps on growing and could soon be battling with the gurm in the weight stakes!

With a couple of big fish yet to be landed this year there is still the possibility of another surprise or two!

Who knows what could be landed next, but with the fish continuing to grow at a pace it surely won’t be long before we have another couple of 50s turning up.

Exciting times at Fryerning!
