Stu Smith lands The Netted

Back to Previous
In a session Stu Smith will not forget in a hurry he smashed his P.B. TWICE in 24 hours as well as catching one of The Main Lakes most sought after fish.

Due to work commitments Stu rarely gets the chance to fish The Main Lake, in-fact in the previous year he only managed two quick sessions so when he got the opportunity to fish he grasped it with both hands.

Setting up in Warblers next to good mate Harry Lee, both Stu and Harry really fancied it for a fish or two with plenty showing in front of them and conditions ideal and the Main Lake in blistering form.

It was Harry who drew first blood landing his first Fryerning Main Lake fish and new P.B. the shape of Charlie at 42lb 4oz, a fish which fell for a cell boilie cast under a overhanging Willow.

Stu meanwhile went for a big baiting approach introducing 5 kilos on a hard clay spot at around 55 yards, a choice which was fully justified when he landed The Stripe at 38lb 14oz and his new P.B.

A further 5 kilos of Tails up Freebies were dispatched to the spot in anticipation of another fish.

The move payed of handsomely when 24 hours later after a twitchy take and epic battle, Stu found himself with one of the most sought after carp in the Main Lake, the awesome Netted Fish.

Hoisted upon the scales she went a huge 49lb 8oz, agonising close to becoming Fryerning’s FOURTH 50+ Carp.
